User Friendly and Helpful

I like that everything saves automatically and is easily accessible. It all feels very intuitive and easy to use.

Nachteile:

I don't think I've noticed anything that was missing or that I thought specifically needed to be improved.

Fed up of multiple docs? This is a great choice

As a freelancer I work with lots of clients, and the time I have saved by not opening up a 'version' of an excel doc has been incredible. I can see who is watching, share edits, allow controls over who can view or edit, and I'm able to track changes with ease. The collaborative power of Google Sheets has truly revolutionized the way I manage my freelance projects. One of the standout features for me is the real-time collaboration. Being able to work on a project simultaneously with a client or colleague, without the hassle of sending files back and forth, is a game-changer. The ability to see who's viewing the sheet and share edits makes for a seamless and transparent workflow. No more sifting through endless email attachments or dealing with outdated versions of files - everything is right there in one place. I liked that I can give read-only access to a client, collaborate with a teammate to make a document right, or keep a document private ust for me. I do hope my data isn't being consumed for AI!! Also worth mentioning the revision history is good as well.

Nachteile:

While the cloud based nature is great for remote work, it can suffer from going offline. I've also struggled to autosum on some files whereas with Excel that was really easy.

Pay for Excel

Great alternative to Excel for spreadsheet collaboration

Kommentare: Love this tool - use it daily for a range of applications. Really couldn't think of life without Google Sheets!

Vorteile:

The ability to share it with other team members is excellent. I love the way it can be styled, and the ability to add Google's "chips" to it for extra context is nice too. Being Cloud first means it's easy to access from anywhere, and the mobile interface is usable too.

Nachteile:

Working with functions and conditional formatting can be a little cumbersome - they do the job just fine but the UI is not as intuitive as it could be

Better than Excel

Kommentare: I love Google Sheets. I've had an incredible experience with Google Sheets. It's super convenient and user-friendly.

Vorteile:

I absolutey love Google Sheets. I'm a very experienced and long-time user of Excel and have always loved it. However, after using Google Sheets - I'm a big fan. I was surprised - I figured it would be more limited than Excel, but it has all the functionality of Excel. Imports/exports into or from Excel are easy and convert easily with little to no complications. My favorite thing about Google Sheets is that it has AI integrated and can recommend formulas based on your activity. That function alone has saved me hours of work. It's very easy and user-friendly. It has a modern look and feel. I prefer the Google Sheets interface to Excel. Functions and formulas operate the same. I also love that multiple users can utilize the sheet in real-time. It also has an edit/version history of who did what and when, which is very convenient. You can also control permissions and restrict access. You can also have Google Sheets integrated into your apps and software. Honestly, I only use Google Sheets now.

Nachteile:

I don't have any cons for Google Sheets. The only annoying thing is it can have network issues but it's very rare and you can download the sheet and work offline.

Google Sheets - great to use

Kommentare: Overall - Google Sheets is super easy to use and share with coworkers. Easy to search inside the "Google Drive" as well.

Vorteile:

What I like most about Google Sheets is its ability to share amongst coworkers and collaborate on a document. Then - I can share it (View Only) with sales reps.

Nachteile:

I wish some of the formatting features were a little easier to use (or "sticky") - if I have used them a few times (ie: Highlighter color for example)

Team work

Kommentare: Google sheets gives me the overall functionality that I need for my business. It’s pretty simple to use and easy to share and use for exporting data to use in our programs.

Vorteile:

I like the ease of use for most of my employees or teammates. I love being able to control the access of data with in the folder that the sheet is filed in. The data import functions and rules of the cells for importing of the google forms answers we collect.

Nachteile:

Sometimes there are functions I wish would be easier like the copying of cells or dragging of cell formats.

This is way more beyond than an excel sheet, Google has improved it day by day and it is getting better and better. Google sheets is full of features and each feature is really useful, all shortcuts, import-export everything is a day to day thing

The tab command does not work as intended sometimes on Mac

Reliable & Time Saving Organization Tool

Kommentare: Google sheets has saved me a lot of time and encouraged me to organize data and lists in table formats, which is a more accessible and attractive format. The many templates google sheets offers also saves me time so I don’t need to build everything from scratch. The fact that google sheets is free is amazing.

Vorteile:

I use google sheets to keep track of email lists, budgets, and to list professional opportunities. I’m a PhD student and college instructor. Google sheets is great for making quick tables of info that I can share and allow people to add their info. So, instead of having to input everything myself, google sheets allows for more crowdsourcing and collaboration. It’s also a simple looking design that’s attractive and easy to read for a wide audience.

Nachteile:

Google sheets has many buttons and drop down menu options. Despite this, I always have to search for how to perform certain functions beyond the basics. The buttons and menu options are not very clear or helpful. It’s very confusing and takes me awhile to learn how to perform basic functions. It’s sometimes a hassle to use google sheets for this reason.

Excel? Nope. Use Google Sheets to create custom dashboards, and reporting systems

Kommentare: Overall we have gone from sharing a few sheets and collaborating on projects to creating a full blow mini ERP in the space of 2 years. Once a day reports from our accounting SW are posted in to a dedicated Inputs sheet, and a series of over 30 sheets, inter linked, and divided bby team and role use these sheets on a hourly basis to create meaningful isnights, and formulate strategy. Has been an extremely fulfilling experience, and we keep extending the use cases on a regular basis.

Vorteile:

Nachteile:

Generally positive about the SW but could see a few key improvements: Scripts should be shareable amongst sheets. scripts.google.com does host my scripts, but we need to add the scripts individually to each sheet. Can be very annoying if we have some custom formula defined acros multiple sheets that need editing. Filter could be improved. Filters based on formatting. Additional built in solutions for duplicates should be added.

Amazing free option for spreadsheets

Kommentare: It is super comparable to excel and it is totally free and easy to share the doc with others in your google drive for editing.

Vorteile:

Google sheets is free so how can you not like it. It seems to do everything that Microsoft excel does plus it integrates with some other things I have. If you need a spreadsheet software use Sheets instead of paying for excel. I have done full budgets and even made a very simple payroll system off of it that calculates everything.

Nachteile:

I had used excel in the past so really the only thing was there was a little curve getting to know it and know how it was different than excel. Really the only thing that annoys me is that when you sum stuff it doesn't automatically try to find the numbers to be summed so you have to drag it.

Always Where I Am

Kommentare: Overall, I have great experiences with using Google Sheets. The collaboration tools, formulas, charting, and flexibility in having the sheets always available regardless of my device make them a crucial part of keeping my business successful.

Vorteile:

Sheets provides me the flexibility to maintain project tasks in an easily to use format. I have built sheets to keep track of common milestones and the ability to easily duplicate sheets for new projects makes them a plus. Then, I have restricted cells for user input and allow my clients to provide feedback and details that help maintain project timelines. Being able to share the sheets easily is always an added bonus!

Nachteile:

I have not found a feature of the software that I do not particularly like. In the years of use, I've been able to accomplish everything needed. I've built complex formulas and sheet mappings that always work without a problem.

Google Sheets - The New Industry Standard Spreadsheet Software

Kommentare: I previously worked as a data analyst for over 10 years, and literally half of my time was spent using Excel. After I became a freelancer, I switched to Google Sheets and haven't looked back. I find Google Sheets sleek and fast to use, whereas Excel now feels slow and clunky. I'd highly recommend Google Sheets to anyone as their first choice for spreadsheet software.

Vorteile:

I love how simple to use Google Sheets is, that it is all online (but also with the ability to use it offline too - giving you the best of both worlds). If you have used Excel, then there is no learning curve, and Google Sheets is totally free. The collaboration is excellent, allowing you to work with clients in real-time while both updating the same document.

Nachteile:

Google Sheets is very similar to Excel, and has about 95% of the same functionality. However, from time to time there is an advanced feature that I previously used from Excel that has no equivalent in Google Sheets. This is only for more advanced use cases, and on a day to day basis, it covers 99% of what I need to do.

Google Sheets - Live Data!

Kommentare: I absolutely love it, and would be lost in the classroom with it! My husband, in his field, uses it often as well, AND we use Google Sheets at home for different reasons. The live updates and the easy sharing between the Drive makes it VERY easy for us to both access the info separately and see the most accurate copy of it.

Vorteile:

The 'live' part and the collaboration is great! The integration with Google Forms is used daily to analyze my students' results, and I can easily add calculations of averages, standard deviation, etc. I also frequently use conditional formatting to help me visually see the data I'm collecting.

Nachteile:

With a competitive program, if I am missing a parenthesis on the end, it will still assume what I meant and calculate it. I know this is small, but can be annoying at times. The competitor also show me the way a formula should be written, to make sure I am entering it in right.

Take your reporting to the next level with Google Sheets

Real Time Updates with Google Sheets!

Kommentare: Overall Google Sheets solves the problem of sending excel files back and forth from staff members. By sharing the Google Sheet with applicable staff, we are able to see real time information and we aren't left guessing which is the most "current data".

Vorteile:

Google sheets has always been useful to our organization. However since the pandemic hit, we've relied even more on google sheets for up to date information between staff! When we transitioned from working in the office to working from home and not many workers had access to VPN, google sheets was an easy way for us to share data in real time! Though we use other similar software, google sheets serves a different purpose for us. It is simple, direct, and we can see the changes being made real time and even add comments in the cells for us to check in with each other. Even if we do return to the office, we will still continue to use google sheets.

Nachteile:

Integration using this software was easy and we have not had any major issues as we know what Google Sheets is capable of doing.

Spreadsheets Cascading Faster & Greater Functionality

Kommentare: My overall experience with Google Sheets began tentatively. I was using a One-Write Accounting System, and then switched to MYOB. While MYOB was more feature rich, what the CPA requires from us is more than met by Google Sheets' features. Over time, it's been possible to switch our entire disbursements into Google Sheets - something I can then simply 'share' with my CPA. A breeze!

Vorteile:

What I like most about Google Sheets is its ongoing development. Already easy to use, Google Sheets continuously upgrades functionality. I've been in construction for over 50 years, beginning with accounting books with double entry and lots of tedium about them. Now, it's possible to simply paste a statement from either the bank or the credit card company directly into the disbursement spreadsheet that I've built using Google Sheets. Each month I spend less than an hour at accounting work that formerly took endless amounts of detailed work. Excellent!

Nachteile:

I'm an Apple Computer user, and the unfriendliness between Apple & Google sheets is sometimes annoying. Nevertheless, workarounds are easily enough achieved...

Easy to access

Kommentare: If I were to compare Excel and Google Sheets to horses, I would say Excel is more of a workhorse, capable of moving mass bits of information while Sheets would be more of your racehorse, best used for quick bits of information that you need to get to your team instantaneously. Both are necessary, just function a little different. If you stay within the bounds, Sheets is fantastic.

Vorteile:

It is so handy to have access to my sheets anytime I need them and have access to the internet. It's great that this is integrated with GSuite and can transfer over to Excel (for the most part) as well. It's extremely handy to be able to give access to a particular sheet to virtually anybody and quite handy to be able to place restrictions on certain shared users to not be able to modify a certain area/cell, etc. It has most of the same functionality that you'd find in Excel, with a few modifications. That factor makes it clean and simple to use for less complicated tasks.

Nachteile:

It's deceiving in that it works so closely to Excel, but it doesn't have near as much of the capability as it's counterpart. You could be creating a rather complicated workbook needing to reference various sheets while utilizing intricate functions and then realize that it won't do what you need it to. This is in part because a lot of the functions are the same/altered. Not a problem because this isn't Excel, but it just takes a bit to get used to the differences and then remember them when you switch between the two quite frequently. It also limits the amount of data you can store on it to whatever is available in your Drive. Again, shouldn't be a problem unless you plan on storing a vast amount of data in one place that could build up rather quickly.

Phenomenal Interface for Efficient and Collaborative Work

Kommentare: My overall experience has been absolutely incredible. I work with large thousand-row spreadsheets on a daily basis, and Google Sheets has made collaborative work extremely easy, allowing for the saving of hundreds of hours, as multiple users can work on the same canvas.

Vorteile:

The best feature about this software is how much it facilitates and encourages collaborative work. More specifically,when working on large spreadsheets, there is an ability to create viewing windows or "filter views" which allow all collaborators to enjoy the benefit of controlling which/how much movement and change they see on their spreadsheet when working on a pivot table, while at the same time not interrupting or affecting the other collaborators who are also working on the project. This allows for the perfect degree of individualistic freedom and collaborative ability while working on a large spreadsheet with features such as a pivot table.

Nachteile:

What I think this software could improve on, is the simple ability for a user to successfully download a compatible version of a Google spreadsheet as a Microsoft Excel file. Often times, as is the case too with Google Docs, users require an attachment to make part of a professional email, a report, or an online upload. For this reason, the file must be turned into an Excel spreadsheet. If this process is not user friendly, as can be the case, users might be tempted to simply use Microsoft Excel from the beginning. This lack of compatability with more complicated features such as pivot tables, column filters, etc. can be the root of such issues with compatability when using the software.

Just like Excel but better!

Kommentare: Google Sheets have helped me out when Microsoft Excel let me down. I had a school account for MS Suites. On one of my assignments, all of my data was lost when my tablet died. After that I found Google sheets ony Chrome book, it worked with or without the internet. I syned all the time after every edit. It works great with my invoices and school assignments. I can insert charts, format cells, find and replace data, save to my SD card or my device, attach to emails and edit Excel files to save on my device. This software I'd very useful.

Vorteile:

I like ease of using this software. I am a mystery shopper and most of my assignments require lists that use this format. On any assignment, I may have around 2000 grocery items to locate and update. I find it easy to select cells to enter their UPC codes , ounces, or general data, multiplying or adding formulas are easy. I am thankful I recently had a computer programs refresher course last semester that taught how to edit spreadsheets. You can also sync your progress so you won't lose progress. This is a BIG plus to me! You don't know how many times I was using Microsoft Excel and my tablet died and my information was lost because it didn't sync! I had to return to the location and start back over and write the prices down during and after the tablet died again. Google sheets sync without me having to save anything. It even allows me to work offline, which is fantastic. Every edit/change is automatically updated and saved. I don't have to be connected to the internet and it still sync my sheets. I love Google sheets. I also use it for receipts and inventory for my online Clothing Boutique "Beauty Dior Divas". The color formats are great, I like the choice of change. I used sheets to analyze and graph my sales monthly. I help my mom with her business, I set up here monthly sales and chart her losses and gains to compare to the same month but previous year. I love the ease of sharing your sheets by email. My scheduler can edit the forms, if necessary.

Nachteile:

None, I have no problems with Google sheets.

Gets the job done when you need to share all the spreadsheets

Vorteile:

Our company has offices in various places around the country, and we have client-facing reps in multiple offices, so being able to share client information and notes easily is something that we've been working to perfect. Sure, there are project management software solutions, but finding a place to keep a running list of clients and relevant notes has been a work in progress. Google Sheets finally seems to have become the Gold Standard for us. We have so many spreadsheets, and while it can sometimes feel overwhelming the number of Sheets we have shared in our company, it's working for us. Each team has their own, teams have shared Sheets, we create them for fires we need to put out, and more. The fact that they are living documents allow us to see in real-time where we are with various clients, leave notes for each other, see what's coming up, and more. One of my personal favorite features is that I can tag a coworker into a document if I have a question about something. Similar to Twitter or Facebook, a simple @ and their name alerts them to my comment, so they know they have an action item in a certain Sheet. It's really streamlined some of our processes, and in one case, even eliminated a meeting because we can now simply keep a Sheet updated and everyone just knows to check in regularly.

Nachteile:

There are just a few things that are off compared to Excel, and I'm a Microsoft gal by nature, so there has been a little bit of a learning curve. Other than that, it's simple, straightforward, and gets the job done.

Great Functionality, Great Tool

Kommentare: As a whole, Sheets is helpful for various business functions from budgets and inventory, to organization of lists, SKUs, and entire databases of data. Along with the other applications of G Suite, Sheets is a time saver and easy to use. Even for the common person with a regular Gmail account, the use of Sheets to organize financial information, plan events, or prioritize tasks is incredibly helpful.

Vorteile:

Google Sheets is a fantastic and free software app of G suite. It offers basically the same functionality as Excel Spreadsheets, without the necessity of Microsoft Office. Its design (using the same formula functions and structure as Excel) allows users familiar with Excel to use Sheets with ease. An added benefit is the Google Forums that let users consult other users for support and formula FAQ. Sheets functions can also extend to additional Sheets on the same Google Drive, allowing users to access and analyze data in other departments without duplicating the information on to separate Sheets. The potential ubiquity and cost (free) of Sheets is likely its most advantageous element. From large corporations to small businesses, the features of Sheets can be accessed by anyone with a Gmail account, and is not limited by added costs or extra purchases.

Nachteile:

With the frequent updates and the availability of support from both Google and other users, it's difficult to find notable faults with Google Sheets. The addition of being able to live chat with support in real time would be beneficial for issues that require time-sensitive assistance, but overall, Sheets' support options are well structured and helpful.
