A good, robust, accounting package

Vorteile:

I like the structured way the system is set up, and that it makes it very easy for seasoned accountants to work with the "nitty-gritty".

Nachteile:

I am not sure I would say there is anything I don't like, perhaps the one thing I find a bit complicated is the import function.

Laura Lee Bookkeeping Love Sage 50

Kommentare: I have used Sage 50 for over 20 years & I do not ever expect to stop using it in my professional career. It is ideal software for many of my clients.

Vorteile:

It's so clear to review entered transactions & run any kind of report you like.

Nachteile:

Some of the third party software plugins do not work so well as they do with other softwares.

Please stay away for your own sanity.

Kommentare: Horrific experience. Data integrity is not something they concern themselves with in their software. Our files got corrupted. They couldn't tell us how or why and told us some third party data repair people to contact. I don't believe they have anyone left who actually understands the code of their software. Their data repair team is one person and he could not solve it. I was in utter disbelief that after not being able to fix our data that they told us to try some third parties. So you risk losing your company data using this software. We can't generate legitimate income statements or balance sheets anymore and are having to switch to a new provider.

Vorteile:

The software is pretty easy and intuitive and would be good if it worked, but it fundamentally does not work. Not like it doesn't work for us, it just doesn't work and they can't tell us why. By not work, I mean scenarios like you enter a purchase invoice for inventory and the inventory number doesn't go up by the amount you bought and then the program adjusts starting inventory values (from 15 years ago) on the fly.

Nachteile:

It is not remote capable like it says. Our files get corrupted constantly and they blame it on the cloud computing. We have corruptions that no one at sage knows how to fix and they don't continue to fix it. They have no problem leaving a small business dangling and had the audacity to refer us to a third party. They don't have any recommendations or help on how to avoid corruptions. They don't have any utilities to help fix the corruptions we have. Their solution is to usually restore from a backup, but they don't have anyway to download and re-upload transactions from the period between the backup and current so you have to print off all your old transactions and then re-enter them. In the cases where they do manage to fix a corrupted file, they charge you for that "privilege". The software also doesn't necessarily keep debits and credits in balance. They're posted solution for this are some custom admin transactions to force balance, rather than find the source of their own non-double entry errors. If for example the accounts receivable ledger doesn't match the sum of the customer sub-ledgers, they don't have a way to see what their program got wrong, they tell you to do an adjusting force balance entry. Same goes for inventory and accounts payable. It may be related to our unsolvable data corruption issues, but again, they don't have a solution for the underlying missed transaction - they say to ignore it and force the books to balance.

Sage50 Accounting

Kommentare: Sage was a fairly easy program to learn and for the most part efficient.

Vorteile:

When I used Sage, I liked the line by line transaction flow.

Nachteile:

I felt like the program, at times, could be quite outdated.

Sage 50 Accounting: Balancing the Books with Precision

Vorteile:

Easy to use and very great interface for new users.

Nachteile:

Might need some prior knowledge or short training.

Great product for a small entity - but you will outgrow

Kommentare: Good product for an SME but will outgrow it.

Vorteile:

Simple to use, flexible with ODBC connection possible.

Nachteile:

Not actually cloud based, connection to server can be slow.

Why I love Sage 50cloud Accounting

Kommentare: Sage 50cloud Accounting is very user friendly. I really like the look and feel of it and it is easy to navigate the various options.

Vorteile:

I love Sage 50cloud Accounting because its on the cloud and we can access it anywhere. We are a small business and it provides all the functionality we need to carry out our accounting needs.

Nachteile:

There is nothing I dislike about Sage 50cloud Accounting

Fantastic Product

Kommentare: A great product with a great level of customer service.

Vorteile:

It's easy to understand and drill down to a transactional level. I'd say it's still built for people who have an understanding of accountancy rather then being built for day to day business user.

Nachteile:

Has stood still for a period in time but seeing more improvements with each update and new features.

Sage 50 accounts

Kommentare: Its so easy to use and being able to see all of the transactions makes it so easy to investigate any anomalies unlike any of the other competitors packages

Vorteile:

Its so easy to use and navigate and does everything that i could ask for

Nachteile:

Nothing like is said above it does everything i want so what's not to like about sage

Sage software

Kommentare: very good accounting program at both basic and advanced levels

Vorteile:

basic appearance of the program, simple and clear accounting program

Nachteile:

Difficult contact with customer service, It's difficult to contact by phone

Sage slowly catching up with Xero, QuickBooks and others

Kommentare: It is definitely getting better and better but still lagging behind Xero or QuickBooks

Vorteile:

It now does most, if not all of the things expected from online software for bookkeeping and accounts.

Nachteile:

The feel is still old fashioned, not very intuitive, though for people coming from desktop Sage this should not be a problem. Still not many apps link with Sage, compared to e.g. Xero

On premise title in a world of cloud-based products

Kommentare: It used to be the only game in town, but nowadays, it needs a true cloud-based version which it doesn't have.As an on-premise software, it worked ok before we moved to work from home as everyone was in the office, so the connection to the server was made over the local LAN. Once WFH started, we had to move and use Sage Drive, an internet-based sharing tool. The data get out of sync fairly quickly. We now moved to a hosted solution but still used Sage50 as it's the only tool that can get the job done for us with our unique setup.

Vorteile:

That it's the only financial package that can transfer cost codes to our CRM system.

Nachteile:

The clunky thin server is called SagDrive.SageDrive is a service that allows sharing between a server and terminals via one central point (hosted by Sage). It is slow and gets quickly out of sync with the sage server.

Crucial for small businesses

Kommentare: This package is easy to use, so crucial in helping us keep track of our business performance and makes our finance so efficient and professional. Saves us loads of time too. Plus a great price for all that. As a small business we couldn't do without it.

Vorteile:

Despite our size, Sage really professionalises our finance. So easy to keep track of how we’re doing, cash flow, P&L at the touch of a button and Balance sheet. Couldn’t do without it.

Nachteile:

As a non finance person (but with a good level of knowledge) I find it difficult to understand the ‘how to’ articles from Sage when I need help.

How brilliant Sage Software is.

Kommentare: Accuracy, and speed beneficial to the business.

Vorteile:

I love bank feeds and the reconciliation is done for you and you just have to finalise. No usual ticking one by one which is time consuming. I can also use projects and departments for my clients dealing with various projects. Having features that cut down on time is such a great integration with our business as you can work on many clients which enables you grow the business.

Nachteile:

The only lease aspect is not being able to amend a few items especially if you have used bank feeds, you have to un reconcile then unclear items delete and amend. This is then time consuming and perhaps sage can improve on that.

Sage 50Cloud

Kommentare: Great software for everyday use in accounting & keeping track of payables / receivables.

Vorteile:

How easy it is to manage and use on a daily basis.

Nachteile:

Some days it's a bit slow, especially trying to load past reports or sending out statements.

Sage 50cloud Accounting

Kommentare: I have used Sage for a long number of years and would have no plans on that changing any time soon. I have always had a great experience anytime I needed helped either with a Customer Service Advisor or through the webinars. I have a sense of security in knowing that no matter what I can get help quickly if required.

Vorteile:

Sage 50cloud Accounting is critical to our Company. We selected Sage because of how easy it was to navigate through the site, the reports we could get from it, having the Customer Service Support and having the Webinars to all fall back on if required. I have availed of quite a few of these and they have been so beneficial to me. Having the telephone support is also advantageous and the security of knowing the customer service consultant will stay on the phone with you until your query is resolved.

Nachteile:

The thing I like least about Sage is probably Report Designer. This I think is partially my own fault as I need to maybe learn more about the intricacies of it. A webinar is probably in my near future for this.

Sage50 - A great choice

Kommentare: A very positive experience overall. It allows us to easily assist our clients who use the same platform and sharing of data works perfectly. It looks like developments are coming so I think the product will become even stronger.

Very easy to set up and easy to use with great functions. I'm sure there are many I don't use.

Nachteile:

I Can't fault Sage at all. There isn't anything that I can think of that is classed as a 'con'

Would Not Recommend-Not Reliable

Vorteile:

I loved the thought of accessing my Sage 50 platform via the cloud services.

Nachteile:

This was not a reliable method of accessing Sage 50. It fails to load repeatedly and little help from customer service to resolve the issue.

The Market Leading Accounting Software

Kommentare: Great product with a good level of support from the team behind it but occasionally due to the size of the operations it can be hard to contact them.

Vorteile:

Integrates directly with our current and future CRMs allowing easy flow of information. The reporting tools built into the software offer a range of data displayed in various ways to help with all manner of Budgetary and performance analysis

Nachteile:

The software isn't a pick up and play model as it does require a decent level of knowledge to get results from but due to it's core purpose in most business the knowledge is a necessity for most organisations.

Total garbage!

Vorteile:

Loved it years ago when it was simpler to use, was less bloated, and customer service was awesome. It no longer is.

Nachteile:

Problems arise, and the tech departments have NO CLUE how to fix the program. My list of issues goes on and on, after talking repeatedly with their tech team. They're a complete waste of time! First, it takes HOURS to get a hold of anyone to get on the line, and/or to call back. And when they do, if things need to be escalated, well GOOD LUCK with that! You'll be lucky if they call you back in a day or two! In the meantime, your program is jacked! We're paying for cloud backup. It worked fine until we installed one of their upgrades. Now it no longer works. Want to know why? Yeah, we'd like to know why, too! Their tech team was UNABLE to figure it out! Can't update any of my user security settings. Just NONE. They're all grayed out. Why? Well, your guess is as good as their tech team, because they don't know why either! Done. I just instructed my accounting team to backup all they can, and we're moving over to Quickbooks. They can't possibly be as pathetic as Sage 50 / Peachtree!!

Ease of use

Kommentare: SAGE 50 meets the needs of our organization. AP an AR features are easy to use and easy to learn. I have been using it for several years and find it easy to work with.

Vorteile:

SAGE allows you to track all AP and AR with ease of use. It allows for project accounting which is very important to our organization.

Nachteile:

There could be room to adjust financial reports. For example, HST is important for tracking and it's not easy to pull reports that show true HST.

Convenient albeit sometimes a little overcomplicated

Kommentare: Reliable and ever present as Sage products are, you may pay more for the name but you know that with Sage products you will get the familiar feel and functionalities and not have to worry about outdated software or major bugs causing you problems.

Vorteile:

Sage 50cloud preforms consistently and reliably as you would expect from any product produced by Sage. The familiarity is there if you have ever used Sage products which is always a bonus.

Nachteile:

We used this product for a smaller entity and there were far too many functionalities for a small entity which did confuse some users from time to time

My favourite accounting software by a clear mile - Sage is in its own league

Kommentare: I love using sage, i use daily in our business, if ever i need assistance from a Sage expert they are available by phone, online chat, or you can jump in daily webinars that run all day for a quick bit of help/ advice. I would never use a different accounts programme, sage has no limitations.

Vorteile:

Its so user friendly, its so easy to teach people how to use it when they are new to sage. It has an incredible amount of detail in its reporting features - it is very clever, it links with outlook - you can get very inexpensive add ons to aide with credit control. Its so cheap compared to other systems yet so much more efficient. Sage will always be in its own league when compared to others.

Nachteile:

I have no cons to report, I have found zero issues/ cons whilst working with it for over 10 years.
