One of my customers was even charged $360 in processing fees during a period when I had an active free-processing credit. When I brought it up, Square didn’t take responsibility and didn’t fix it. They consistently failed to honour their own terms and constantly contradicted themselves. The customer service experience made everything even worse. Every interaction felt like dealing with support reps who had little understanding of Canadian business practices or the issues I was actually facing. Instead of helping, they read off scripts, dismissed my concerns, and closed inquiries without proper resolution. There was never any real support, empathy, or accountability. Having both of my accounts shut down without valid reason caused major operational delays, unexpected expenses, and hours of wasted back-and-forth. If you rely on payment processing to keep your business running smoothly, think twice.
