I found the wording in the UI sometimes misleading. I suggest keeping the following localization workflow in mind: "The current Crowdin-GitHub integration follows an industry-standard localization workflow where the Git repository remains the single source of truth for all code and source strings. Here's why this workflow is the most effective for most of our users: Version Control: Keeping your source strings in GitHub ensures they are part of your main codebase and are subject to your existing version control, branching, and review processes.
